Out Of
Confusion Comes Order -
Recognizing The Need To Reduce Your Life's Ordinary
Stressors.
One of the best and easiest descriptions as to what
stress does to (and in) your body comes from "Don't Get
Rich- Get Wise" an ebook by Pebbles publisher, Ken
Darby.
"Stress is that level of tension in the body that allows
insufficient oxygen to reach the cells and for the
toxins to build up as a result. One day under these
conditions may not harm. However, have you seen what
happens when one drop of water every minute dropped unto
a stone does to the stone in twenty years?
"I heard a radio report that each of us today undergoes
or is subjected to more stress in one day than cavemen
experienced in a lifetime." (Used by permission)
Why do we, in the medical profession, harangue you with
so often about the need for stress reduction? Because it
leads to some very unpleasant and totally unnecessary
illnesses and conditions. With a little thoughtfulness
and preparation, conditions like hypertension (high
blood pressure) hypercholesteremia (elevated cholesterol
levels) diabetes, etc., can all be eliminated. They are
very unpleasant to live with.
By paying attention now: by recognizing signs of your
specific stressors, you can enjoy great health for a
long time. Just as you can prevent getting a traffic
ticket, you can prevent degenerative conditions with a
little planning.
Stress comes in many forms and one of its main causes is
confusion. And if we go back to the original description
of stress, you know that there is insufficient oxygen
getting to the brain, resulting in altered thinking and
toxins remaining in the tissue cells. We cannot live
without oxygen!
No matter what you are you are faced with it, you do
have an internal computer to help with automatic
decision-making. For instance, your body automatically
decides what to do when you need to take the next
breath, pump the next regular heartbeat, moves your legs
forward in walking, swallows after you take a drink.
Then there are the learned responses, still somewhat
automatic: your decision to stop (I hope) for the red
light, slowing down for the yellow light, and advancing
with the green, or the stopping for the pedestrian. So
the type of decisions that you need to deal with varies
greatly, all day long.
Let's look at some other everyday stressors:
untidy/unmade beds, lost files on your overloaded desk,
messy bathrooms, incomplete home work assignments,
unexpected traffic delays.
So the confusion arises from much of the busyness of
life itself: what to do…what to leave out. We want to do
more fun things, so we take short cuts in other areas.
These then come back to haunt us.
Why are these things stressors? Because they prevent you
from just moving naturally. They either stop you in your
movement forward or force you to go around an obstacle.
Or they may cause you to have to stop and fix something
before continuing. They are the little annoying things
like looking for a lost file and having to call the
person back, or washing the clothes just as you should
be wearing them.
Let's use the analogy of a bad hair day. Most of us have
had one and those who shave off their hair, probably did
it to avoid another one. Bad hair...unmanageable hair is
important for many people. In the activities of the
Universe, these are insignificant: in your life, it
signifies an out of control situation, which is
stressful. Lack of control is a very important stressor.
Now I know little about cars, but I suspect that if you
have a beautiful motor and gave it poor quality gas, ran
it roughly without breaks and with no maintenance, over
rough terrain, everyday, it would soon pack it in. Our
bodies are pretty much the same, only they are much more
forgiving till they, too, pack it in. And now we are
seeing some very disturbing degenerative-like conditions
in young children.
Once you make the decision to change, your stress level
is already greatly reduced. The body is starting to
relax, oxygen begins to flow more normally, and the
toxins are about to be removed. Balance and harmony are
restored…for a time, until the next stressor comes
along. Your control is back in place…temporarily.
So a possible solution to eliminating confusion could be
a bit more preparation… Most of us don't have time to
redo anything. So if you just took a minute to look
around, to create more order out of your normal, hectic
lifestyle, you would be amazed at the results!
Here are just a few ideas. Tidy the kitchen as you work.
Put files away where they belong right after using them.
Make a shopping list as you remember things. Wash a load
of clothes before they are needed to be worn. Let the
driver on your right…merge ahead of you. Put your makeup
on at home. Don't answer the cell phone as you are
driving. Ask a few people what ideas they have about
dinner and eat in.
These are not new ideas, but they need to be recognized
as solutions to major everyday stressors.
Making a decision as to how you handle your own
stress could save your life. It would give you back
control. Here's your chance to avoid the chilling sounds
of the ambulance siren as it rushes you to the emergency
room after a massive hear attack or stroke. Or you could
avoid the long-term care facility for an out of control
diabetic condition or crippling arthritis from stress,
worry, and degeneration.
Stop and take a deep breath. Allow the oxygen to hitch a
ride on the blood cells. Let them flow unrestricted to
reach all of your body's cells and get rid of the
toxins. Give yourself a chance to enjoy the next twenty
years with your children and grandchildren. Instead of
wishing you had slowed down and eliminated a lot of
confusion, commit today to reorganize your life and
health. Eat those high quality optimum nutritional
supplements. Take those twenty-minute walks, stop and
smell the flowers, watch that game with your children.
Just by living, your stress load is already high and
unless you remain in bed all day (another stressor) you
cannot avoid it. But all these responses rely on the
body functioning in a healthy manner: not clogged up
with oxidative (free radicals) debris, which is what you
get with stress.
Therefore, the solution should be to control your
reaction to stress and it's frequency in your life…your
choices are a direct result of your awareness and desire
to take back control of your life, and consequently your
health.
